Unfamiliar with Seattle Reign Academy?

Our Seattle Reign Academy is a female-centered training environment, offering a variety of programming for players of different ages and skill levels.

Our U13-U19 Seattle Reign Academy Bleue teams play on an elite national platform in the Girls Academy League, which is the only nationally recognized development program focused solely on growing female youth soccer players as both an athlete and person.

Our Legacy Squad (U8-U10 Pool), U11-U12 Bleue and Rouge teams, and U13-U19 Rouge/Blanche teams play at the local/regional level in the Washington Premier League.

All teams follow our club training methodology and curriculum:

  • TWO goalkeeper training sessions per week (U13-U19) and supplemental beginner goalkeeper sessions for our U12 and younger players wanting to explore the position.

  • Supplemental programming for HS-aged players during the fall season.

  • Adequate field space at training to be able to implement principles in game-like environment.

  • Additional technical training programming.

What teams/programs does Seattle Reign Academy offer?

Seattle Reign Academy offers teams in the U9 - U18/19 age groups for players of all aptitudes and abilities.

Our most competitive teams at each age group are our Bleue teams.  Seattle Reign Academy Bleue teams offer comprehensive, intense, and demanding training environments designed to support the development of female footballers with exceptional talent, tenacity, and focus.  Starting at U14, our Bleue teams compete in the Girls Academy League, one of the top national leagues in the United States.  These teams train 3-4 times per week and travel frequently throughout the region (Washington, Oregon, California) to compete against the top clubs throughout the country.  They also attend GA national showcases throughout the year, focused on college recruitment and Youth National Team scouting.

Our Bleue teams at the younger age groups (U9-U13) primarily compete locally.  They play in the WPL Super League, the most competitive league available in the Washington Premier League. The Super League is comprised of teams across the state of Washington.  Bleue teams may also participate in regional tournaments to gain exposure to a higher-level competition in preparation for the GA League. U10-U13 Bleue teams train three times per week.

Seattle Reign Academy also offers Rouge teams for all age groups (U9-U18/19), and Blanche teams at some age groups.  Rouge & Blanche teams offer players a competitive, high-level training environment, but with more flexibility and a reduced time commitment to enable players to also pursue other sports or activities.  Seattle Reign Academy Rouge & Blanche teams play in the local Washington Premier League, and players are eligible to be “called up” to participate in GA/Bleue games and/or trainings based on the strength of their performances.  Rouge/Blanche teams also participate in local and regional tournaments to help with college recruiting and expose players to higher levels of competition. All Rouge & Blanche teams train three times per week.

Where do Seattle Reign Academy teams train?

Our training locations are in the Greater Seattle area, including Bellevue, Seattle (rotates depending on city field allocation) and North SeaTac Park. We try to balance between all locations as evenly as possible. We also send a carpool map out each year so that shows people that live in each zip code to help accommodate carpools club-wide.

What is an Identification Session?

  • A chance for players & families to become familiar with Seattle Reign Academy staff, process, and environment.

  • A chance for staff to assess and potentially discover players who match the core values and key qualities of a player.

  • Improved experience surrounding joining a new club. We believe seeing a player on multiple occasions, over a prolonged period is the most accurate away to assess a player’s potential fit into our club.

  • More accurate in our team placement: reduce some of the stress surrounding the typical “tryout”, a more personal setting, improved communication, a more thorough process.

Do I need to attend all Identification Sessions in order to be evaluated?

We encourage prospective players to attend as many sessions as possible prior to the formation of teams in May 2024.  We believe that the best way to accurately evaluate players is to see them on multiple occasions.   We recommend that each prospective player attend at least 2 sessions in order to optimize the evaluation process. However, if a player is only able to attend 1 session, an assessment regarding potential team placement will still occur.

When will Seattle Reign Academy form teams for its 2024/2025 season?

Teams will form by May 12th, 2024. All players will be notified by that time if an offer will be extended to join the club for our 2024/2025 season. All players can expect to hear communication regarding their offer status by that date.

What happens after an Identification Session?

Next steps after identification session may look different for everyone. As soon as our staff feel they are able to get an accurate assessment of a player, we aim to communicate as quickly as possible, out of respect for every player’s time and energy. Occasionally players may hear back after one identification session if our staff feel they were able to get an accurate assessment. Examples of potential communication after a discovery session:

  1. Not at Level - Staff assessment is “not at level” at this time and you will receive notification as such: we want to be transparent and not waste time/energy/resources.

  2. Training invitation - coach would like to further evaluate player in our training environment for further evaluation.

  3. Roster invitation - staff assessment is player would positively impact current roster and roster invitation is extended. We give players 48 hours to make decision, out of respect for the timeline of getting back to all players.

  4. No communication - staff are still evaluating your player and have not yet made a decision regarding their potential placement. Player should continue to attend upcoming Discovery Sessions.

What if I can’t attend an Identification Session but I am still interested in joining Seattle Reign Academy?

Please reach out to Annie Sittauer (annie@reignacademy.com), Seattle Reign Academy’s Director of Operations, if you are unable to attend at least one Identification Session but are interested in joining Seattle Reign Academy for the 2024/2025 season.

Is Seattle Reign Academy similar to EPD or Surf Academy?

Seattle Reign Academy is a year-round program that serves as each player’s primary playing and training environment. It is not a supplemental program like EPD or Surf Academy.
