The roster for the third U-15 U.S. girl’s national team camp of 2017 was announced earlier this week. Reign Academy goalkeeper Neeku Purcell and midfielder Jayce Woodward are among the 36 players called in.

U.S. U-14 girl’s national team coach April Kater will be overseeing the camp in Portland, Oregon from June 11th to 18th. The group is beginning a two-year cycle for this age group before moving to the U-17 level in 2019, when they will attempt to qualify for the 2020 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup.

Purcell is a goalkeeper with the Academy, and a member of the 2003s which are currently ranked in the ECNL’s top 20 teams and have qualified for nationals.

“Neeku [Purcell] is probably one of the most talented young goalkeepers that I’ve had the privilege to work with,” said Reign Academy technical director Tracey Kevins. “She has all the physical sand technical tools, she’s terrific with her feet, a very good shot-stopper, and very agile. I’m excited for her to go to that next level, she has huge potential for a very young goalkeeper.”

Woodward is a midfielder with the Academy and is a member of the successful 2002s squad.

“Jayce [Woodward] is more of a technician, very much a Reign Academy-type player,” said Kevins. “She looks to knit our forwards and midfield together. She has an ability to get on the half-turn and combine with players, and also has a really keen eye for goal. She’s come up with some really important goals this season, so I’m really pleased for her.”
