U.S. Under-15 girls’ national team head coach Tracey Kevins has named the roster for the team’s upcoming camp at the U.S. Soccer National Training Center in Carson, California. Reign Academy goalkeeper Neeku Purcell and defender August Hunter are among the 24 players selected.

“Neeku’s shot-stopping ability is one of the top of her age that I have seen in a long time,” said Reign Academy technical director Kim Calkins. “This opportunity will provide continued growth and development with some of the nation’s best.”

This is the second U-15 GNT call-up for Purcell this year, having previously been called into camp last June. This marks the first call-up for Hunter.

“August can rise to any challenge placed in front of her and has a true competitor’s spirit,” said Calkins. “She will undoubtedly demand the highest standard from herself in this environment and will not settle for anything but improving and making the most of this opportunity.”

The camp will run from September 10 to September 17, and will be held concurrently with a U.S. Under-14 girls’ national team camp. During the week the teams will scrimmage against each other, and it will be the first experience in a National Team training camp environment for many of the players.

This group of U-15 players is in the first year of a two-year cycle before transitioning to U-17s in 2019, when they will form the core of the team that will attempt to qualify for the 2020 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup.
